Contemporary full calf, tooled edges, red spine label lettered in gilt. (1) 144, xxi (appendix) (2). An early American tooled binding but well worn with cracking and a peeled spot front board as well as the spine strip; considerable offsetting to the endpapers and scattered occasional foxing to the text. Description du livre Published [and printed] by William Fessenden, Brattleboro, Vermont, 1807. First Vermont edition. The first American edition was published in Boston in 1796. Pp. [12], 25, [1 blank], 144, xxi. 1 vols. 12mo. The author was one of the Judges of the Supreme Court of Judicature at Bengal. Balmanno was a Barrister of Lincoln's Inn. Contemporary sheep, dark olive green morocco label, gilt roll of intertwined pearls and stylized leaves at top and botton of label. Rubbed, upper joint cracked, top half-inch of spine lacking, foot of spine chipped, offsetting, some creasing or folding of pages, contemporary manuscript comments in some margins, browning, signature partially removed from title with resultant hole not affecting letters, else very good Pp. [12], 25, [1 blank], 144, xxi. 1 vols. 12mo First Vermont edition. The first American edition was published in Boston in 1796. N° de réf. du libraire 39418
