A propos de cet article

Octavo, pp. [1-5] 6-274 [275-288: publisher ads], frontispiece, original gray-green cloth, front and spine panels stamped in silver and red. First edition. Collection of nine stories including several with fantastic elements. "An Air Tandem" puts its hero aloft by means of a large kite with a chair attached to its tail. "Wind Goblin" is a somewhat humorous tale of a foot-tall sprite, a personification of the wind, who blows into the Big Apple from Chicago and isn't all that impressed by what he sees; he meets his doom at a music hall show when he goes up on stage to light his pipe from one of the stage lights and gets caught in between the base drum and drum's pedal. "The 'Possum and the Coon" and "The Goose Dinner" are anthropomorphic animal stories. The title story, a nouvelle in length, is a nautical tale about the finding of buried treasure connected with Captain Kidd. "The Young Montauk" is set in Colonial Long Island. The writing is generally mediocre. The best thing about the book, perhaps, is the hilariously inept frontispiece drawing. Some light dust soiling and spotting to cloth, rubbing at spine ends, a very good copy. (#148070). N° de réf. du libraire 148070
