Titre : FLUXUS

Éditeur : New York

Date d'édition : 1963

Type de livre : Anthology

Description :

First edition of Young and Mac Low’s Fluxus anthology. This copy with page-long dedication by the editor and contributor Jackson MacLow, dated November 1966, as well as three pages having altogether about 15 lines of corrections handwritten vertically (p.34 and 54?), emendations later taken into the 1970 edition in shortened version; they also included a new conceptual idea for a work. ‘As of Nov 66: Another method, (a method requiring intent listening to the total sonic situation and great ensemble tact) fallen into daring performances and recordings between 1961 and 1966, allows each performer to interpret the spaces in the printed poem as periods of silence and or nonverbal sound(s) of whatever duration the performer feels right in the actual performance situation. (Spontaneous personal response then there.)’ Or another addition with an arrow pointing up: ‘ha ha, ha ha, ha ha, ha ha. (first line of Waring poem)’, this handwritten note necessitated by the guillotining of the page having obliterated two lines at the top of the "laughter poem for ray johnson." George Maciunas-designed, hand-assembled. On all known copies, supposedly, the bottom of the text had been guillotined when bound. Red cover faded and stained, as recipient treated it like a normal owned book not a precious object. Truly in the spirit of Fluxus. Inside impeccable. As issued 1/4 inch smaller than the later 1970 reprint, which incidentally is not a facsimile as even the order of the pages and the coloured insert pages differ. A mint - still in original tissue - copy of the 1970 edition comes with this item, for comparison. N° de réf. du libraire 99
