16mo. First edition thus. First published in The Fleuron #7 (1930). Original grey paper over burgundy boards, in printed glassine jacket. Jacket slightly discoloured and with a tear to the front top corner. Fine in very good d/w. From the Preface: 'This edition is printed at the request of American correspondents. As the brevity of the essay seems to be one of its most aproved qualities, no expansion, and only a slight revision, has been made. The following text is, therefore, identical with that of 1930 except for a few lines'. N° de réf. du vendeur 8582
