Description du livre Whitcombe and Tombs, Christchurch. Card Covers. État : VG. No Jacket. Photographs (illustrateur). Apparent 1st. Blanche Baughan is probably best known for her book "The Finest Walk In the World," an account of walking the Milford Track in NZ's Fiordland. This monograph is in similar vein, being a descriptive journey in the southern area of the Southern Alps and Westland, including the Hermitage, Copeland Pass , Mount Cook and the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. Written in the days before the motor vehicle, when horse, coach and train prevailed, her rambles are leisurely, her observations acute, including geology and biology in lay terms as well as the wonders of the ice, forest and mountains. Her excellent text is supported by 15 full page b/w photos. Now a scarce little treasure, not dated but probably 1912 and one of W and T's Dainty Booklet Series. 47 pages, b/w photos. Green card covers VG with slight wear and chipping where the edges overlap the text block. Ink name low of front cover, repeated top half-title, text block otherwise excellent. Text block, attached to covers at spine with cord, is slightly loose but firmly connected. N° de réf. du libraire 003858
