Synopsis : Providing rare facts in reviewing the past and present of the historic town of Franklin, Tennessee, this book is a comprehensive account of this small town of distinction. From the days of elephant-like mastodons to sad days of Civil War battles to today's efforts to fight the effects of urban sprawl, the book provides facts, figures, anecdotes, quotations, and illustrations. The City of Franklin commissioned Providence House Publishers and authors James A. Crutchfield and Robert Holladay to write this special book commemorating Franklin's bicentennial in 1999.
A propos de l'auteur: James A. Crutchfield is an accomplished historian and author of more than 30 books. He has written hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles relating to various aspects of American, and particularly Southern, history. He was presented the Spur Award in 1991 for the Best Western Short Nonfiction by Western Writers of America for "Marching with the Army of the West." Robert Holladay is a direct descendant of one of Middle Tennessee's earliest pioneers. He is a Vanderbilt University graduate and has written for The Tennessean, the Nashville Banner, the Nashville Scene, the Tennessee Historical Quarterly, and other publications.
