A propos de ce titre

Synopsis :

Book by Matthews, Professor Jack

From Library Journal:

This collection of "ghost" stories by an established writer of literary fiction will interest both mainstream and genre readers. "The Immortal Dog" recounts the angst of an old man forced to poison his dog. "The Ghost of First Crow" studies the effect of the death of an elderly Indian squatter on a white farm family. "Toward a Distant Train" is a fine horror yarn about a witchlike grandmother told from her six-year-old grandson's viewpoint. The superb "Dark, Dark" is a truly offbeat tale of railroad building in the 19th-century American West. Roughly two-thirds of the 17 stories in the collection are good to excellent in quality. Weaker stories such as "The Betrayal of the Fives" and "The Amnesia Ballet" border on being philosophical exercises. Recommended for larger collections.James B.
