Hardback, approx 8 x 5 inches. Halfbound calf leather and marbled paper to boards. Maroon leather spine label lettered in gilt. Raised and gilt banding to spine and embossed spine edging. Plain endpapers. Speckled page edges. In very good condition. Rebound in later fine binding. Some minor darkening to frontis plate, small nick/chip to corer and edge. Some minor tanning to title page, some occasional foxing spots to pages. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 341pp + Index. B&W engraved frontispiece by John Pine, and decorative chapter head & tail pieces. The author was Gardener to the Apothecaries at their Chelsea Botanic garden.
