Fragmentary diaries and memory thirty years after the war are the basis for this regimental history, and Bud Robertson in the Military Aspects--Soldier's Life section of Nevin's bibliography, asserts that "the text centers on Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville and adds little to each [Nevins I, 145]. With photographic image of Colonel William W. Jennings and 27 other photographic portraits throughout.(NB: Five portraits are lacking; viz., Capt. Jas. Henderson; Capt. John J. Ball; Capt. C. A. Nissley; Dr. Simeon H Guilford; and Comrade Levi F. Heicher). The double-page plate of Camp Boas is present. .This copy is has some minor soiling; It is from the library of Civil War historian James I.
