Complete 6 volume set, published 1948 to 1954 with Volume 1 being a reprint, October 1948, 'issued on first publication by The Book Society, Ltd. in association with Cassell & Co. The Publisher is stated as 'Cassell & Co. & The Book Society Ltd'. Volumes 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 are FIRST EDITIONS, first printing, published 1949 - 1954. CONDITION: Minor wear to the cloth covers. The pages are tinged red at the top edge fairly evenly on pages which is less commonly seen. Bright, clean unmarked interiors with no inscriptions but for name in small writing at top right corner of ffep in Vol. 3. A pictorial two tone bookplate titled 'The Book Society' is tipped in at the hinge of the front endpapers, though this volume is a first edition, first printing by Cassell. There is pale brown spotting on the page edges of Volumes 1, 2, 3 & 4 and on endpapers in Vols. 2 & 3. All fold out maps are in place and in excellent condition. Tight bindings. Bright gilt lettering on the spines. The titles of the books are: Vol. 1: The Gathering Storm Vol. 2: Their Finest Hour Vol. 3: The Grand Alliance Vol. 4: The Hinge of Fate Vol. 5: Closing the Ring Vol. 6: Triumph & Tragedy.
