A propos de cet article

An outspoken and generally sensible treatise on the deleterious effect of some fashion trends in the time of Victoria. For example the drawing of the ribcage as it develops naturally is quite an attention-getter when contrasted with the ribcage of a woman who is habitually corseted. Treve's did babies a good turn when he observed "the object of tightly encircling the body [of the infant] for some eighteen with several layers of flannel or calico is totally unintelligible" [p. 110]. While Treves enjoyed some fame during his day (he was the surgeon to King Edward VII), he is better known today and the physician and friend of Joseph Merrick, the "Elephant Man". This copy bound in original cloth, and rebacked. Scattered foxing. Very Good binding. N° de réf. du libraire 252158
