Original Cloth. 8vo. 119 pages. 25 cm. First edition. With frontispiece portrait of Rabbi Issac M. Wise and Sculptor Ezekiel (Isaac Wise is posing next to his bust being sculpted) . With 29 photographic plates throughout. A series of biographic monographs on Josef Israëls, Philip Veit, Henry Mosler (American) , Eduard Bendemann, E. M. Lilien, Max Liebermann, and Moses Ezekiel (American) ; with a chapter on King Hiram's columns. Collmann wrote other works of art criticism, many for a juvenile audience, and worked as the head of the foreign literature department at the Cincinnati public library. Printed at the S (Simon) Bacharach Publishing Company in Cincinnati, which also published the first edition of Alexander Kohut's Hebrew Anthology and the serial The Ark. Subjects: Jewish artists.
