Description :

285 pages, plates, tables, maps, cloth, DJ, very good. 7.5 by 10 inches. From the DJ: "The German Jastas were formed with two basic roles. First as dedicated hunting units; second to protect their own two-seater reconnaissance and artillery observation aircraft so as to enable them to carry out their battlefront duties. Because of these roles, the Jasta units saw more action than any other group in the war. Following the success of The Jasta Pilots, by popular demand the same team of authors have compiled a complementary volume which lists a complete breakdown - in date order - of the claims and losses of the Jasta from their inception. The Jasta War Chronology is filled with a mass of information for the would-be historian or enthusiast, and is an essential reference tool. In addition to the pure chronological listing of combat victories for the German fighter pilots, each is augmented by the location of the combat, time of action when known, plus the running score of the pilot concerned. Moreover, by comparing RFC, RNAS, RAF, French and American losses it has been possible to identify a number of the victims and aeroplanes claimed by the Germans. There is also a monthly list of which Jastas were assigned to which German Army in the field, not only in France, but Italy and Macedonia. Dozens of photographs of downed Allied aeroplanes which fell into German hands complete the picture. ". N° de réf. du libraire 29696

Synopsis : The German Jastas were formed as dedicated hunting units, and to protect their own two-seater aircraft while attacking enemy planes. Because of these roles, the Jasta units saw more action than any other group in the war. Following on from "Jasta Pilots", the same team of authors have compiled this volume which gives a complete breakdown in date order of the claims and losses since the Jasta squadrons were formed in the late summer of 1916.
