Description du livre Self-Published, West Kirby, Cheshire, 1948. Softbound. Illustrated wraps over stiff cardboard. Black lettering. 104 pp plus 19 monochrome plates with descriptions on facing page. Sadler was resonsible for the discovery of a method of printing pictorial patterns on fire tiles and, later, adapting the process for glazed earthenware, enabling the common fok to have plesantly-decorated dinner ware with which to lay their tables. Includes information on Sadler, John Evans and other engravers, Josiah Wedgwood, Cream Ware, the tiles and prints, porcelain, glass, enameled copper, salt glazed stoneware, processes (glaze, printing, firing, pouncing,etc.), forumlas (colors, enamels, glazes, etc.); includes a list of china makers, signed porcelain and with notes on the Liverpool potters. Lots of information in this compact volume. G (interior is excellent but covers only good- with chipping to outer edges, top inch of spine missing, and front cover loosening from spine.
