"Address Book" for members of the "Humanitarian Association" B’nai B’rith in the Republic of Poland from the Holocaust period and just 1 year before the the dismantling of the organization by the president of Poland (and 2 years before Poland was invaded by the Nazis) . Certainly the last published detailed address book of members of every local metropolitan association of the B’nai B’rith in Poland, with information about the founding date, address, present officers, etc. "B'nai B'rith (Sons of the Covenant in Hebrew) : a network of Jewish organizations following the example of the Masonic lodges, bringing together the elite of Jewish society. Its statutory purpose was to care for ‘the preservation and restoration of the Jewish soul, ’ which meant in practice charity and to support educational initiatives. The first such organization was founded in 1844 in New York. In Poland, the first lodges were built in the 80's and 90's of the nineteenth century in the territory of Prussia: in Katowice, Poznan, Chorzów, and of Austria: in Bielsko, Krakow, Lvov. The latter especially earned during World War I providing aid to the refugees from Russia. In 1924 the Polish B'nei B'rith lodges banded together and formed the Grand Lodge of Polish District (number 13) based in Krakow. The financial assistance of B'nei B'rith was used by many social institutions, victims of various natural disasters, as well as refugees from the Soviet Union, and since the 30s – also from Germany. Thanks to its initiative the Institute of Jewish Studies was established in Warsaw. The Polish B'nei B'rith lodges were dissolved by a decree of the President of Poland on 22 November 1938."
