Condition: In printed paper covers; two leaves wanting (pp. 137-140) but supplied from photocopies from another copy; front endpaper wanting; spine reinforced with tape, many pages loose but complete with exceptions of 2 pages of text supplied in photocopy form. Imitation leather and black paper over boards. Language note Á frummáli: Karmel the scout or The Rebel of the Jerseys. TRANSLATOR'S BIO: Translator Benedictsson was a noted Icelandic-Canadian feminist writer and activist and colleague of western Canadian feminist, Nellie McClung. For a time, she and her husband Benedict ran a printing company in Selkirk, Manitoba - and published published the feminist journal Freyja, the first woman suffrage paper in Canada, for which she wrote many contributions dealing with the condition of women.
