Near Fine condition, gift quality in maroon cloth hardcover with gilt lettering and motif to front cover and gilt lettering to spine. This poet immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada from Iceland in 1878; he later moved to North Dakota, USA. Known by the nickname Kainn, he was known by Icelandiers on both sides of the ocean as an "outstanding humourous poet", according to Kristjanson - see p 488. In this book his poems are LARGELY ON CANADIAN THEMES. Canadian items include a poem by Manitoba poet Guttormur Guttormsson (p. 62); another deals with Winnipeg and Klondike/Yukon resident, J. J.
