A set of the author's issue, which includes the inserted frontispiece (a photographic portrait of the author) and the inserted errata slip, and which is printed on thicker paper than the later regular issue. A PRESENTATION SET with SIGNED INSCRIPTIONS IN EACH BOOK to the International Astronautical Federation, and to it's president, dated 1954. "Esnault-Pelterie's greatest contribution . [It] covered virtually all that was then known of rocketry and space flight" (Von Braun and Ordway). Generally considered to be one of the four most important early works published on the subject, along with the early writings of Oberth, Hohmann and Goddard. Ciancone 66.
