Testam. Syriac.? hand written to top of spine. Occasional library stamps throughout and library card pocket on rear cover. Hinges separating. Occasional neat margin notations. Aegidius Gutbier (1617-1667) was a professor of oriental languages, philosophy and theology in Hamburg. He first published his Syriac version of the N.T. in 1663. His lexicon remained in use among scholars well into the 19th century. His Notae Criticae contains variant readings of the Syriac N.T. from available manuscripts of his time.
