Covers the present United States and its dependencies, British North America, the West Indies, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. Arranged alphabetically by names of cities, and under each depository, by authors or titles of the catalogs. From the website of The Matteson Historical Congress of America Hall of Fame: "David Maydole Matteson (1871 - 1949) He was born in California on April 18, 1871. He was the son of Jehial Edward and Caroline (Johnson) Matteson. He died in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 13, 1949. He graduated from the University of California in 1892. He continued his education at Harvard University Graduate School, majoring in American History. During his 2nd year there, he lost his hearing due to an accident. In spite of his handicap he became eminent in the fields of mapmaking, indexing, and historian. His name on a map guaranteed its accuracy. As an indexer he produced such important works as the Minutes of the City Council of New York. And as a historian he was chosen to research the data for the Sesquicentennial of the birth of George Washington, and was named Historian for the Sesquicentennial of the Constitution of the United States. Among the works compiled by him in Washington was the publication of the Diaries of George Washington. " ; Ex-Library; 203 pages. N° de réf. du libraire 21948
