NOTES: "Þyðingar"/translations [from Moore, Runeberg, Schiller, Tegnér, Wilster, Byron, etc] : p. 125-154. "Kristján Jónsson (essay/abstract by/ritgerð eftir B. B. Jónsson (born 1871). The publisher of this book and the writer of the abstract/essay in this work was the son of Icelandic immigrants to North America. His 11-page essay is a substantive commentary on the author of the book, to whom he was related. The author, Kristjan Jonsson, was a poet well known in Canada and in Iceland, though he did not immigrate to Canada. B. Jonsson, the publisher, was educated in Canada and the U. S. and became the minister of the Icelandic Lutheran Church in Winnipeg and the President of the Ministerial Association of Winnipeg in 1925 and again in 1928. He also edited an Icelandic Sunday School journal. Kristjansson (p. 344) states that B. Jonsson was "a prominent leader in the Icelandic community and he was also active in the wider Winnipeg Community". First edited by Jón Ólafsson (1850-1916), Reykjavik, in 1872, of which the present issue is an abridged reprint. LCCN: 07036996.
