LACKING any frontispiece illustration of fold out print of Waterloo that may have been included. Drawn from the work of Comte Las Cases, this work chronicles Napoleon Bonaparte's rise to power following the French Revolution, discussing the Napoleonic Wars and various campaigns he conducted, including Waterloo and the Russian Campaign, his potential sailing to America, as well as his final exile and death on St. Helena. Comte De Las Cases was a noted French writer and atlas maker, who accompanied Napoleon in his exile at St. Helena. During this time he took notes of the conversations and day to day life of Napoleon in exile, publishing them upon his eventual return from the island. While a popular account, portions of it were probably exaggerated or concocted. (see Wikipedia). POOR/FAIR condition. Moderate to heavy scuffing to the covers, with some soiling and staining.
