Octavo, pp. [1-8] [1-2] 3-248, original blue cloth, spine panel stamped in gold, Heinemann windmill device stamped in blind on rear panel. First edition. A collection of short fiction by the author of THE WELL OF LONELINESS, a controversial lesbian novel published in 1928. The title story is a fantasy, and contains, as the author points out in a note, the nucleus for parts of her "serious study of congenital sexual inversion." In the story, Miss Ogilvy, who has always felt uncomfortable as a woman, finds a cave while on holiday and has a long detailed vision of herself as a caveman in love with a woman. The next day she is found at the entrance to the cave, dead. A bright, clean, very good copy. A scarce book. (#114283). N° de réf. du libraire 114283
