For more than 15 years, Simon has written and edited a wide range of information books for adults and children. His academic background is in English and medieval literature, culture and history - but through his career he has also become passionate about the communication of natural history, science and technology-related subjects. As a writer, Simon also has a penchant for anything fantastic, funny, philosophical, puzzling, paranormal and peculiar.

Illustrator David Wyatt has worked on many beautiful covers for authors, including Terry Pratchett, Philip Pullman, Diana Wynne-Jones, Alan Garner and JRR Tolkien. He lives in an ancient house in a graveyard in Devon, and is a keen lutist, cyclist and wanderer of the moors.

John Howe is a world-renowned fantasy illustrator who is best known for his visualization of the world of J.R.R. Tolkien. His work became one of the foundations for the design of the Peter Jackson movie adaptation of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Helen Ward is Clinical Professor of Public Health at Imperial College London, UK and an NIHR Senior Investigator.
