A propos de ce titre

Synopsis :

This is an illustrated history of the uniforms and personal equipment items peculiar to the US Marines in World War II. The colour section presents all major uniform and equipment items in their correct configuration, while over 200 black and white photographs offer a mixture of "actuality" shots providing evidence of use, with close-up studio layouts of each item laid flat for the further guidance of collectors and researchers. The illustrations are set in context by the accompanying text that traces the evolution of the Corps's uniforms and personal kit throughout the war. Organized largely in chronological order, it covers the items in use at the time of Pearl Harbor, the early campaigns in Iceland, the Philippines, and on Guam and Wake, the "island-hopping" campaigns from Guadalcanal to Okinawa, the Raider Battalion, the introduction and development of camouflage clothing, the brief history of the Marine Parachute Battalions, dress uniforms and insignia and the uniforms of the Women's Reserve.
