Memoirs of the Rev. David Brainerd; Missionary to the Indians on the Borders of New-York, New-Jersey, and Pennsylvania: Chiefly Taken from His Own Diary. By Rev. Jonathan Edwards, of Northampton. Including His Journal, Now for the First Time Incorporated with the Rest of his Diary, in a Regular Chronological Series. 507pp. Brainerd, missionary to Indian tribes on the borders of New York, New Jersey & Pennsylvania, kept a diary & a journal. This material, arranged chronologically, is edited by Edwards' great grandson, Sereno Edwards Dwight & includes the sermon preached at Brainerd's death by Rev. Jonathan Edwards (some 29 pages in length). Book is bound in the original full calf binding with the red compartment label on the spine with the title in gilt. There are six spine compartments with gold tooled lines separating them and a gold stamped design in each compartment. There is a small chip to the spine label without any loss of text, edges and covers are slightly rubbed otherwise in great shape. End papers and page edges with minor foxing, this book in the original binding for the most part is very clean, tight, and complete, rare to find in such great condition. N° de réf. du libraire 000760
