Octavo, full polished calf gilt extra, top edge gilt, by Zaehnsdorf, joints slightly cracked but firm, very fine and complete with half title and ads. This copy has the suppressed passages, with the sectional title "Passages Suppressed" complete. Taylor called "The Platonist" is noted for his excellent translations of a number of Greek and Latin authors, and he sold most of the printings by subscription. Among his lesser known writings is a parody of Mary Wollstonecraft's A Vindication of the Rights of Woman. Mary Wollstonecraft was no stranger to Taylor; she had lodged with him at one point.
