Paris, typographie Henri Plon, propriétaire - gérant Ch. Philipon, Janvier 1855 - Décembre 1858 ( issues 1 -> 48 ) , format in-folio, 42,5 x 29,5 cm, issues of 8 pp, most pages with illustrations (woodcut , later also paniconographies by Firmin Gillot ), some double page illustrations. Bound in contemporary green half leather, endpapers and fly leaves renewed, binding with some scratches and traces of use but solid and with a fine spotless interior. Long run starting from issue 1 of this rare illustrated periodical which was issued free to subscribers of the '' Journal pour rire''. In all 70 issues were published (ending in 1860). The first issues deal extensively with the Crimean War and the first Paris World exhibition of 1855. Many of the illustrations were by the young Gustave Doré. From number 23 onwards (November 1836) some pages contain panicongraphies ( a photoengraving process invented by Firmin Gillot in 1852). Revue illustrée, reliure en demi-cuir vert d'époque, pages de garde renouvellées, intérieur très bon, reliure avec traces d'usage. Tête de collection, les numéros 1 à 48 (Janvier 1855 - Décembre 1858). Avec des illustrations du jeune Gustave Doré. Dans les premiers numéros illustrations sur la guerrre du Crimée et sur la première Exposition Internationale à Paris. Dès le nr. 26 il y a des illustrations à pleine page imprimées suivant le système panicographie de Firmin Gillot. N° de réf. du libraire 42002
