A propos de cet article

New York: Harrison Smith & Robert Haas. 1932. F First Edition. H Hardcover. Good +. G+ Signed Presentation copy. Slight wear to head and foot of spine (fraying); slight rubbing to extremities (chiefly to lower edges and corners); slight soiling, rubbing and browning to covers (cloth); some loosening and weakening to inner hinges (chiefly to upper inner hinge); lower right corner of page 7 lacking; slight internal uniform browning (chiefly to edges and endpapers). [2], 332 pages. Novel concerning the nocturnal activities of a "lady" named Diane, with at least two male characters (named Eric and Jeff); notable perhaps for the lady's final riposte: "Try a cold shower, Jeff." Presentation copy, signed and inscribed to the noted maitresse demimondaine Polly Adler in black ink on front free endpaper: "For Polly -- who makes the world turn a little more amusingly, magnificently than any other person. Gratefully, Charles Beahan. May 7th, 1932." With Ms. Adler's pictorial bookplate (featuring the masks of comedy and tragedy) opposite inscription on front attached endpaper. Inscribed By Author.
