Détails bibliographiques

Titre : Norrsken : Kalender for ar 1914 [Nordic (...

Éditeur : Swedish Canadian Publishing Company, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Date d'édition : 1914

Description :

140 [2] pages; Fading to blue cloth cover; ffep wanting; front hinge starting - otherwise VG condition. Intended as an annual publication but AMICUS shows copies only for 1913 and 1914 whereas WorldCat shows (annual?) copies for 1910(?) through 1914. Comprised mostly of prose articles with some poems, considerable discussion of religion and travel. A variety of writers contribute, including J. M. Florell, Chas. Jacobson, John A. Strom, Rol Gording, D. Nyvall, B. A. Werklund, M. Fl. At least two selections deal with Winnipeg. One is entitled Winnipeg: Past and Present (5 pages) by M. P. Peterson, who came to Winnipeg (Fort Gary) from Michigan, in 1874 - it deals with this man's experiences in Winnipeg, when most of the population of the area was Aboriginal (Indian and Metis). This story features the portrait of the author and the structure at Upper Fort Gary. A second story (7 pages) by K Larson, a 'General' in the Salvation Army, is entitled, "The New General" discusses the English background of this "General" and Salvation Army matters in Winnipeg - includes portraits of this man and illus. from photo of new S. A. temple in Winnipeg. Thus, significant (and rare) CANADIAN CONTENT. Quite a few illustrations. Bookseller Inventory #34870. Exceedingly rare - WorldCat lists a copy only atthe National Library of Sweden; AMICUS list one copy only for this year, as "in progress". N° de réf. du libraire 34870
