24.5 x 30.5 cm. Uncoloured. Double page map. Blank on verso. A decorative fantasy map of the Northamptonshire and the adjacent regions. The principal features of the region are represented by illustrations of allegorical figures. The town of Northampton and Peterborough each represented by the figure of a standing female figure. Several rivers accompanied by illustrations of water nymphs. Woods and hills are marked and decorated accordingly, including Rockingham Forest which is accompanied by an illustration of the wood and a hunting scene. Some light toning to margins, some minor offsetting. Expert reinforcements to centrefold on verso of map, otherwise in good condition. From the first edition, third issue of Drayton's series of county maps.
