CONDITION: Good Minus; charming 1873 birthday inscription on interior flyleaf, spine bright and front cover good, extremities bumped and worn, loosening on interior pages so that signatures are uneven, evidence of moisture damage from pp. 60 to 80, affecting plates, especially. margins; wrinkles and page soil on early and late pages, still most pages flat and clean. Juvenile hardcover. Many, many rhymes, reminiscent of nursery rhymes, but gentler, and quite well done. The illustrations are by a German American artist primarily known for medical illustration and his "Death of Lincoln" There must be an interesting story behind this book.
