A propos de cet article

First Edition (first printing). The first novel by the author of SIX FIGURES, the story of two normal, intelligent people who somehow become killers. Fine/Fine. Inscribed by Leebron on the half title page, as follows: "For Larry Owens -- I'm so glad you like this book. It isn't exactly heartwarming to read -- but, then again, neither was Crime and Punishment! Of course, not that this is that -- but my idols are Dostoyevsky, Kafka, O'Connor , and Joyce. Some of what's in here is true -- but not the worst of it. Best, Fred Leebron Charlotte 11-26-96.". N° de réf. du libraire 72443

A propos de ce titre

Synopsis :

Taking a job as a night desk clerk at a seedy San Francisco hotel, ex-convict Benjamin West meets up with Amber, an L.A. fugitive on the run after torching her ex-boyfriend's apartment, an encounter that leads to murder when Amber's ex suddenly turns up dead. A first novel.

In his impressive debut novel, Leebron creates a dark , scary story about two basically moral and intelligent people who stumble into murder almost by accident. Ben is a graduate student who got caught with some pot and an underage companion; after a prison term, he's trying to rebuild his life while working nights at a welfare hotel in San Francisco's Tenderloin. Amber is equally smart, but is hiding out in a VISTA teaching job because of an act of revenge against her brutal boyfriend. The sparks that fly when they meet start a fire that will change both their lives drastically, and Leebron is so good at chronicling their fears and aspirations that you'll be totally engrossed.
