Original artwork by Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Jim Berryman, drawn for publication in the Novermber 18, 1955 issue of the Washington Star. Kefauver, from Tennessee, was selected by the 1956 Democratic National Convention to be the running mate of presidential nominee Adlai Stevenson. Berryman's father was political cartoonism C. K. Berryman, who created the famous Teddy Bear back in the days of Teddy Roosevelt. C.K.B. started with the Post and moved onto the Star, where his son Jim followed in this footsteps, beginning as a sports cartoonist and moving into politics.
