Description :
Second edition from 1845. Contemporary half leather binding with marbled boards and five raised bands to the spine. The title panels and the panels with the volume numbers are all lost. The title, author's name and volume numbers are blind stamped on the spines. The binding is tight and secure. The corners are bumped with some rubbing and fraying. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown with their name and a date in ink to the reverse of the front free endpaper. Marbled endpapers. The half-title page is almost completely covered with an extract from a letter by Charles Kingsley in ink. There is some brown spotting to the pages at the front and back but the pages are otherwise generally unmarked. N° de réf. du vendeur 022369
