A propos de cet article

Dixon traveled through Baltimore, Boston, Washington, New York, down the Ohio and the St. Lawrence to Canada and provides an interesting British view of American life and institutions prior to the Civil War. He was especially distressed by slavery and comments on it frequently. This is the second edition (first American ed. ) , the first edition having been published for the author in the same year in London. Original full leather binding with black leather spine label; joints professionally repaired with Japanese tissue. Some scattered foxing and age toning to contents, else a nice clean and tight copy. There is a frontis portrait of the author. Part I includes personal observations; Part II includes Notices of Methodism and Territorial Progress of the ME Church. Ref: Sabin 20370 ; Frontis Portrait; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 431 pages. N° de réf. du libraire 2443
