Published by George Philip & Son, London, undated, circa 1900. Tall book measuring 18.5 x 8 inches. Consists of a fold-out moveable coloured model of the human body which opens out to reveal the internal organs, skeleton, arteries and veins. With 16 pages of explanatory text. Original cloth backed pictorial paper covered boards. -------- In good condition throughout - boards and spine good with some signs of age - the colour picture of the man to the front cover has got a couple of scuffs to it. Cloth spine good and binding secure with all pages present and in good condition. The fold-out model is in very good condition with all parts present and working with no damage. Overall in good condition. Scarce. Size: Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall. N° de réf. du libraire 002396

Tall folio c.19 x 8 inches, 1930. pp. 16. 2 double-sided MALE human figures folding over another central figure; the outer figures show HEART & BLOOD-VESSELS, SKELETON, SUPERFICIAL MUSCLES, DEEPER MUSCLES & EYE; the central figure shows the VISCERA [with numerous overlays], all in chromo-lithography. Cloth-backed paper boards, the front cover with a coloured vignette, the covers a little dusted and slightly bowed, the internal figures in fine condition. *The text is by EDUARD OSKAR SCHMIDT [1823-1886], translated and edited by Furneaux, originally published in the 1890s and reissued a number of times into the 1930s. These overlay figures are clearly fragile and easily torn and when completely intact, as here, uncommon. N° de réf. du libraire 61853

Description du livre George Philip & Son, London, 1900. Hardcover. État : Very Good. ca. 1900, presumed first of these popular anatomy books that were reprinted several times. Tall folios, 18.5 x 8 inches. Each includes 16p of explanatory text with in-text illustrations, and a multi-layer fold-out diagram in the back (the ladies' version including a modesty fold) featuring the various layers of the body - skin, muscle, bones, organs. The male issue is in about very good condition with a small chip to the lower right corner and oil mark opposite. Light soil and abrasion to both volumes. Female issue has been rebacked with sympathetic red cloth spine. Overall very attractive copies of these rare and desireable volumes. N° de réf. du libraire z05836
