BIO OF TRANSLATOR: Both Gegnir and Hjartar identify the translator of this work as Sigtriggur Jónasson 1852-1942., who was the editor of the flagship Icelandic-Canadian newspaper Lögberg (from 1895-1901; he also edited the Icelandic-Canadian periodicals Framfari in 1880 and Syrpa in 1920. He was the principal leader of the first wave of Icelandic immigrants to Canada, and is therefore known as the "Father of New Iceland". He was one of the founders of the Icelandic-Canadian publication Framfari in 1877, the first Icelandic-language newspaper on the North American continent. He was also a founder of the Icelandic newspaper Lögberg (Tribune), still published in Winnipeg. Referenced in Hjartar, p. 25. At time of cataloguing, only one (reserve) copy listed on Amicus.
