Hard Cover. Fine++/Fine. First Edition. Signed by Author. 14 x 10.50". A beautiful copy in its original protective cardboard box with plastic box lid. Boards are of silk (or similar) in a deep blue shot with purple threads, with gold stamping to the spine and deep-purple endpapers. Signed by Gleason on half-title page. Photographic cover is of Evergreen Plantation near New Orleans, with azalea bushes in brilliant bloom. Book is in mint condition, apparently unread, and jacket is likewise, except for being price-clipped. The box is in good condition, but its plastic lid has a small piece missing and two of the lid's corners have been split, one mended with tape. Gleason, a well-known photographer of plantations, photographed houses in several areas: New Orleans and the Lower Mississippi, Along the Bayous, Cane River Country and North Louisiana, and the Natchez (Mississippi) Area and Downriver. 134 pages, index, abundantly illustrated with color photographs. A coffee table-size book that weighs about four pounds. Size: 14 x 10.50". N° de réf. du libraire 000599
