Description :

X, 182 pages, well illustrated, cloth, DJ, very good. 8 by 11 inches. Embossed label of the previous owner, a noted aviation collector. From the DJ: " For many decades a fascinating and sizeable archive of photographs, depicting operational and ground activities of the RAF, has remained unrecorded and largely unseen in thousands of documents held at the Public Record Office at Kew. Other equally important images of the RAF can be found in the official archives of the Ministry of Defence in London. Together these two important collections cover a period from 1903, when the RAF predecessors became interested in the possibilities of military aviation, through to the high-technology application of air power in the Gulf War of 1991. This second volume covers the period from September 1939 to August 1945. It includes the Battle of France, the Battle of Britain and the operations of Bomber, Fighter and Coastal Commands, and the 2nd Tactical Air Force, as well as some of the other second-line commands at home. Further afield, there are photographs taken of operations in North Africa, the Middle East, Italy and the Far East. ". N° de réf. du libraire 33727
