CONSIDERABLE CANADIAN CONTENT - e.g., on p. 94 is poem about Canadian Minister of government, Joseph Thorsson; on p. 96 is poem in form of greeting to Einar Jonsson of Winnipeg; on p. 98 is poem to Sveinn Thorvaldsson of Icelandic River, Manitoba; on p. 102 a poem commemorates the 50th anniv. of Markerville settlement of Icelanders in Alberta; on p. 106-7 is poem in honour of Dr. August Bjarnason of Winnipeg; on p. 113-14 is a poem celebrating wedding of John David Eaton (baron of the Eaton retail empire) and Signy Stephenson - in short, much Canadian content. Watson Kirkonnell, p. 42, states that the author's poetry is of "high quality"; Beck in "History of Icelandic Poets" also speaks highly of the author's poetry and translations (pp 231-233]. The author came to Canada in 1913 from Iceland, and became the editor of the leading Icelandic-Canadian journal, Logberg, that was then (and is still) published in Winnipeg.
