Oleson edited vols. 4. and 5. SUBJECTS : A seminal work on the history of emigration of Icelanders to North America, particularly Canada. Volumes 1-3 deal with Icelandic settlement in western Canada. The editor, Þorsteinn Þ. Þorsteinsson, was a noted Icelandic-Canadian poet, editor, short story writer and writer of Icelandic-Canadian historical works. He lived in Winnipeg (source: Einarsson, History of Icelandic Prose Writers, pp. 247-8). His works have been repeatedly re-published in Iceland. The second editor, Tryggvi J. Oleson 1912-1963, was a history professor at the University of Manitoba and an author; he personally wrote the section on the Icelandic emigrants who settled in Winnipeg.
