29cm. 332pp, illustrated in colour throughout. Sargent and Sorolla are two artists who have always been held in high regard by the public.Although their careers started off on different paths, as time went by they converged and drew closer, especially during the last period. At times they could be regarded as Impressionists, with whom they share the effort to capture the light, painting out of doors and the visible and spontaneous brushstroke; but their admiration for Velázquez meant that they were drawn towards the traditional painting and towards genres such as the portrait and genre painting. These social genres are the ones that provoke public admiration, however they both fail in a dignified way when commissioned to decorate public buildings. Cloth. D/j. New. N° de réf. du libraire
