First edition of this well-illustrated travelogue through Central Asia and Siberia on the Trans-Siberian Railway, recording his experiences in the Caucasus, Armenia, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Bokhara, Samarkand, and across the Siberian Steppes. Bookwalter (1839-1915), Ohio industrialist and philanthropist, ran for Governor of Ohio on the Democratic ticket, manufactured the Leffel turbine for industrial and grist mills, maintained a huge machine works, and amassed vast fortune.
