Deze Souter Liedekens are collected and compiled by Jonkheer Willem van Zuylen van Nyevelt, Lord of Berg-ambacht. He was the first to put the Psalmes of David in Dutch rhyme, to the tune of known, most worldly songs. These were, even during the most severe persecutions in The Netherlands, eagerly sought, used, and sung by the people. The demand was so large that 6 different editions were published by the same editor in the same year (1540). In this edition are 165 psalmes set to rhyme, from which 154 in music notation with one accord. Scheurleer, D.F. (1977). De Souterliedekens.
