A propos de cet article

First edition. Octavo (24 cm); viii, 442 pp; ill. Maroon cloth; blind-stamped emblem to front board; gilt-stamped spine; beveled edges. Some rubbing to boards and soiling to front board; slight damp-staining along the last fifty or so top page edges, barely noticeable and certainly not affecting text or illustrations. Hinges solid, which is rare for the heavy text block, pages all clean. Easily Very Good. Illustrated with 256 figures. A scarce book in the trade, although still found institutionally. Description de la librairie

I, the Andalusia Bookman, have a stock of over 100,000 covering a wide range of items specializing in 19th and 18th c. illustrated books, chromolithos, Philadelphiana, rare anthropology, early hermeneutics, Natural history, first editions and signed items, Beat lit, '60's material, unusual occult, erotica and esoterica. This is my personal collection from which I am de-accessing most everything, including a vast amount of ephemera, art work (steel engravings, pouchoir, collotype), movie posters (of the 1940's - 50's) and a mass of important 19th c. bound periodicals (Oology to Archeology, Mathematics, Botany, Knitting), and 20th c. Art journals, Italian Fascist publications, etc., culled from Walter J. Johnson's liquidation, as well as a collection rare jazz records, including 100's of Boogie Woogie and BeBop '78s, And much more, just ask. I was previously established as The Book Merchants, the Philadelphia's Riverside Book Fair and 30th Street Station Book Fair. In 1991 I purchased the stock of Samuel Kleinman's legendary Schuylkill Book and Curio Shop of 4207 Lancaster Ave., Phila. PA.
