Octavo, pp. [i-vii] ix [x] [11-12] 13-299 [300: blank] [note: first two leaves are blanks used as front paste-down and free endpaper; true endpapers at rear], original red cloth, front panel stamped in black and ruled in blind, spine panel stamped in black. First edition. "David -- 1926" is a weird tale about World War I, alluding to the hero's Biblical namesake, involving what was either a vision or hallucination. "As It Was In the Beginning" is a retelling of a Maori legend. Some of the other stories feature recurring characters such as Mustard-Pot, the horse, and Peter Jackson, cigar merchant. The material has Kiplingesque mannerisms. Hubin (1994), p. 302. NCBEL IV 578. Owner's signatures on front blanks. Cloth lightly worn at spine ends and corner tips, a clean, tight, very good copy.
