Synopsis : In this book Ridley Wills II presents a delightfully intimate look at more than two hundred years of life at home for Tennessee's Governors and their families, beginning with life in the log cabin of the state's first Governor, John Sevier, and concluding with daily life at the Nashville Executive Residence for Tennessee's current Governor Don Sundquist and his family. Tennessee's First Lady Martha Sundquist has written the Foreword for this beautiful, full-color, 8 1/2" x 10" gift or coffee-table book, which includes color full-page photos of the Executive Residence and many historic photos of the homes, families, and famous guests of Tennessee's First Families.
A propos de l'auteur: Ridley Wills II has a unique perspective from which to write a history of the residences of Tennessee's First Families, since his grandfather, William Ridley Wills, built the lovely home that has since become the Executive Residence. Originally christened "Far Hills," the home was the site of many happy days for Ridley Wills as a child. Wills currently writes and teaches Nashville history, conducting classes at Belmont University and Montgomery Bell Academy. He is past president of the Tennessee Historical Societey and former board member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He recently chaired the committee responsible for erecting over 80 historical markers in Williamson County, Tennessee, where he lives in a home listed in the National Register.
