Small 8vo, 192 pp. Scarce bullfighting book consisting of a discussion or debate on the ethics of bullfighting, "dividida en dos partes", one part arguing for the 'diversion', the other against it, with many references to contemporary toreros. Embellished by a woodcut, repeated, of a toro pawing the ground. Palau (330771) notes that it has been attributed to Nicolas Fernandez de Moratin, but that this is not possible because the Memorias of Jovellanos (1790) are mentioned in the book, while Moratin had died in 1780. This is an early item on the subject: it has never appeared at auction in the US or Britain and is held by only two libraries in the OCLC group. (OCLC shows only 6 books or pamphlets on bullfighting that appeared prior to this.) Bound in dark calf over marbled boards, with raised bands, from Madrid binder R.R. Luna, circa 1930. Fine copy.
