A propos de cet article

First edition thus, first published 1897 as Two Women Abroad, 4to, 510pp, b/w frontisportrait of Mrs Hall, profusely illustrated with black/white illustrations throughout, grey cloth, gilt embossed title to front, elaborate gilt embossed castle to front surrounded by brown embossed floral decoration. Corners bumped and rubbed, spine edges and ends rubbed, else binding tight which is unusual for such a heavy book. Very Good. "Hall and her friend travelled from Chicago to Europe, visiting Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Greece, seeing something of the Ionian Isles. They crossed from Gibraltar to Tangier. Miss Hall set out to educate: whilst it was delightful that she had been able to cross the ocean and see for herself, others were less fortunate. For the stay-at-home reader, Adelaide Hall set what she saw in a suitable historic context." - Theakstone p120 (Two Women Abroad). N° de réf. du libraire 2084
